2 Days from Marrakech to Zagora Desert

The 2 days from Marrakech to Zagora Desert provides a glimpse of Morocco’s desert landscapes and allows you to experience the desert in a short time.

First, the trip departs at around 8:00 AM from your Marrakesh accommodation and crosses the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at an altitude of 2260 meters (f 7,414 feet) above sea level, admiring breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains and the Amazigh (Berber) small villages.

Next, the first stop will be after 1:30 from the departure in the village of Ait Barka at the beginning of the High Atlas Mountains where you will have a chance to enjoy the panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains.

Moreover, the following stop will be at Tizi N Tichka’s highest point to enjoy the views of snaky mountain roads as well as the Berber mud villages located at the edge of the mountains.

Afterward, the desert trip continues to the historical monument, Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, which is an ancient Kasbah that has been fortified since the 11th century, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987, also this well-preserved Kasbah is known as a filming location, and numerous movies were filmed, such as the 1926 epic biographical adventure drama Lawrence of Arabia, and the 2010 American action fantasy film Prince of Persia, in addition to TV series such as the American fantasy drama Game of Thrones.

After lunch in the Kasbah, we continue toward Zagora passing through Ouarzazate, Agdez, and the Draa Valley which is considered the longest river in Morocco and is full of dates palm trees.

Finally, arrive in Zagora in the late afternoon and commence the sunset camel trek into the desert for a unique, fabulous experience, in addition to spending the night in a desert camp, enjoying dinner and traditional music under the sky full of billion stars.
